Yesterday was a mixture of rest day and race day. An easy morning ride to Latrobe spun the legs out, and in the afternoon some of us were racing the criterium hastily put on by the Ulverston CC to replace their state crit champs which were rained out a couple weeks previously.

Devonport Carnival is held at our local track, given where we’re staying. It is held over 2 days from 3pm until 10:30 under the new lighting system (installed after a serious crash last year). Yesterday’s Launceston track carnival was held at the Silverdome, home of the TIS (Tasmanian Institute of Sport). This track is an unusual distance; 285m (35m longer than the more common 250m distance). Otherwise it is very similar to our home track in Perth.
